Special K-shaped New economic data show the U.S. economy grew at a surprising pace in the third quarter, driven largely by consumer spending. But the bulk of that spending came from health care expenditures by older, financially independent Americans, with recreational spending (fishing, golfing, and the like) close behind. President Trump’s tariffs have not triggered the collapse many predicted, but waiting for relief may carry political costs with working-class voters, who are still pulling their belts in. While growing the GDP pie does tend to lift more Americans over time, the immediate gains are flowing mostly to “older rich people and their Indian employees.” (AP, CNN, Not the Bee)

An Odd Prompt to Reflect on the Incarnation
This year I encountered a new Christmas phenomenon: the “charcuterie chalet,” sometimes called a “meat mansion.” They’re festive little cabins made entirely of cured meats and cheese. They look fun and tasty.
Let us pray. O God, You make us glad with the yearly remembrance of Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Grant that as we joyfully receive Him as our Redeemer, we may with sure confidence behold Him when He comes to be our Judge; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
